Praying the Psalms When We Need Forgiveness
This week, we explore another lament of David. We dive into his illness, his desire for God's forgiveness, and whether/how these themes still apply to us today. We discuss questions such as how do we deal with sin while we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, does God allow us to suffer illnesses as punishments for disease, and how does the faith of a person make a difference in prayer. More than any of those though, we deal with the guilt a sinner faces and how we can address that feeling in prayer. These are issues that I have heard much discussion over and while this is far from exhaustive, I hope that this post provides a little theological insight from this Psalm as well as a few selected texts.
